nicole reynolds - poems

two twisting great oaks

bury me with my palms to the sun
fists full of seed
to sprout up
from my silent limbs
no box's, concrete, vampire blush
my body and bones grow out
to become a great oak
you can lay beside me
with the same seed sprouting
from your bones
as two twisting great oaks
we could outlive humanity
and otters and golden frogs
new life, new blights
meteor showers without the
hums and glows of rows of mills
we'll push out air for the antelope
early morning breakfast of dawn and dew
those thousand years i will still know you
