nicole reynolds - poems

the ewes and i

embroidered sheep think about acupuncture
i think about real sheep and feed them
salt and minerals in the morning
women of loose morals,
the ewes and i
we both eat apples straight off the tree
and don't care about what
the church says about us
wormholes in our hearts happen
when it rains too much
or not enough
a little moon beam hit me in the eye
last night
between the drape and the wall
and it rained
just enough
there are words that don't exist
hieroglyphs on our hands
what fools we are
eating those apples
what fools
